I was born with a passion for the map's blank spaces. Exploring them is where I feel most alive and am filled with the greatest sense of wonder and intrigue for the world around. As Nabokov once said..."nostalgia in reverse, the longing for yet another strange land, grew especially strong in spring.” Shall we go forth?
Karisia Walking Safaris specialises in walking safaris supported by camels. Our trips offer a unique perspective of not just the animals but the land they live in.On foot, we fine tune our senses and experience the country in vivid and exciting detail.
I grew up in Patagonia and spent most of my childhood riding horses, hiking, and camping in far-flung corners of the family estancia. I'm an avid biker, kayaker, runner and skier, annually participates in the most challenging race in Patagonia: Chapelco's Tetrathlon. As the lodge manager of our estancia, I work hand in hand with Santiago Uriburu — our head guide — an expert horseman, passionate about riding, playing polo, and breeding horses. Santiago's passion for horses, wildlife, and nature are positively contagious, and he loves nothing more than providing travellers with the opportunity to experience all these.

James studied wildlife biology at the University of Vermont before working for ten years as a Research Biologist, predominantly with endangered birds. In 2004 he moved to Kenya (his mum's home) and began a safari company, with Kerry Glen (later they were married), that specializes in walking, ornithology, adventure and 'off the beaten path'. Jamie grew up an only child in a patch of beautiful woods in Massachusetts. He developed a love for animal life and nature at an early age. His interests not only led to a degree in Biology but also an early job in Alaska at a Fly Fishing camp.
Born & raised in Northern Norway among reindeers and high mountain plateaus, I raise Alaskan huskies and guide long dogsledding trips across Scandinavia since 25 years.I founded my company in 1998. Nature lover, I always had a strong relation with life outdoors. I share my days with my sweetheart and 2 young ones. We spend plenty of time on sleds, skis and in cabins exploring our beautiful region. I am a certified ranger & canoe instructor, educated in outdoor activities, and I ran 5 times the longest sled-dog race in Europe, the Finnmarksløpet. I look forward to show you Northern Norway!
