Brophy is driven by a love of active adventure and immersive cultural travel. He has skied through the remote fjords of Svalbard and been trained as a yoga teacher in Bali.He lived in the backcountry of Patagonia for 80 straight days, climbing un-named and sea kayaking through uninhabited island chains. He has trekked through sacred mountains in the Himalayas, skied virgin lines in Alaska, fished remote rivers in New Zealand, and explored the Colombian Amazon. With Untrodden, he dreams of facilitating similar journeys for others.
I was born with a passion for the map's blank spaces. Exploring them is where I feel most alive and am filled with the greatest sense of wonder and intrigue for the world around. As Nabokov once said..."nostalgia in reverse, the longing for yet another strange land, grew especially strong in spring.” Shall we go forth?
Amaru Bolivia, based out of Cochabamba, Bolivia, provides authentic experiences through sustainable relationships with local communities in Bolivia and neighboring countries. For examples, travelers can canoe to the community of Mapajo deep in the Amazon, and join the Mosetén tribe as they gather medicinal plants in the forests or fish the rivers as they have for centuries. Or visitors can turn quinoa farmers and llama herders for a day (or longer) with a local Quechua family amid the salt flats, smoking volcanoes and geysers of southern Potosí.
Vivejar is a social enterprise that helps create a positive impact. We believe companies have the capacity to positively shift and transform the world into a better place. In our case we do it through transformative travel. The purpose of our work is: To improve every community we work with; To encourage every person who travels with us to think about their role in the world; To provide an alternative source of income to the communities we work with as well as support communities and visitors in their search for positive transformation. As a consequence, the world becomes a better place.
I grew up in Patagonia and spent most of my childhood riding horses, hiking, and camping in far-flung corners of the family estancia. I'm an avid biker, kayaker, runner and skier, annually participates in the most challenging race in Patagonia: Chapelco's Tetrathlon. As the lodge manager of our estancia, I work hand in hand with Santiago Uriburu — our head guide — an expert horseman, passionate about riding, playing polo, and breeding horses. Santiago's passion for horses, wildlife, and nature are positively contagious, and he loves nothing more than providing travellers with the opportunity to experience all these.
