Embrace the tranquility of the endless steppe in the Dornod province of Mongolia while supporting local development through sustainable farming. During your stay, you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the lives of the farmers of rural Mongolia. You will plant and harvest vegetables in the greenhouse and help to run a research center dedicated to exploring what can grow in the area. You’ll cook Mongolian dishes with the food you’ve picked and with meat from the farm's livestock and break bread with your fellow farmers.

I am a trained ecologist and biologist and I haved moved to Dornod to become a herder in 2012 after studying and living in several countries including Germany and the US. My passion is to promote local development through sustainable farming. I try to offer a comfortable place to stay for my guests as well as an authentic experience to help them learn about farming in the serene and beautiful steppes of eastern Mongolia

The Journey

Day 1

Exploration

Start the trip by exploring the area and the lake nearby. This first day will be a good opportunity for you to relax, walk around, and get to know the surrounding area. At our farm, we welcome you to a calming environment. As the farm is located in the endless steppe in the Dornod province, you will be separated from distractions.

Day 2

Harvesting and Research

We plant vegetables including tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplants and other greenery in our greenhouse. Today, you are welcome to join and help out if you want. In addition, we run a research center dedicated to exploring what kinds of plants and vegetable can grow in our area. Your input and experience-sharing are highly encouraged.

Day 3

Cooking

We will cook together with the vegetables harvested from our greenhouse and meat from our livestock. We will be happy to teach you to cook Mongolian dishes, or we can cook your favorite meal together.

Day 4

Eastern Mongolian Steppe

On your last day, we will take you to see the eastern Mongolian steppe and the wildlife that resides there. Visit local families and take part in the herders' daily chores.
