Join us for 5 Days of river education in your choice of Canoe or Kayak – the perfect amount of time to immerse yourself in the world of whitewater. Our Instructors are experienced outdoors leaders with a passion for teaching paddling and sharing their love of the river with you. Combine this with MKC’s hospitality and you have an active vacation like none other. Whether a new or established paddler – we welcome everyone to our riverside community to learn new skills and build confidence on the water. Modelled after the European ski school concept where paddlers are divided into skill level groups, good food, and a great atmosphere lead to the ‘Rapid Education’ we know as MKC today! The Madawaska River location became the river of choice with its technical rapids and guaranteed surface water releases providing warm whitewater all summer long. Choose to camp, stay in our dormitory, lodge rooms or off-grid cabanas nestled in the forest. You will love our home-cooked meals served buffet-style in a beautiful dining hall with all your fellow passionate paddlers.read more

Stefani van Wijk

My grandparents started Madawaska Kanu Centre in 1972 to support more people to fall in love with the small, wondrous sport of whitewater paddling. I grew up canoeing and kayaking on the beloved Madawaska River, and guiding whitewater expeditions all around Canada. After travelling and living in all sorts of incredible places, it feels right to call MKC home, and take over management of this fantastic family business to continue building and fostering the river community.
